December Worksheets for Kindergarten

These December worksheets for kindergarten are a month bundle of 12 sheets with winter pictures: stars, trees, gifts, bells, candy canes and ornaments, all drawn as outlines to color. They cover counting, finding the letter D, beginning sounds, patterns, adding and taking away up to 5, numbers to 31 and a real December 2026 calendar. The answers are at the back.

A calendar that matches this December

December 1, 2026 falls on a Tuesday, so the calendar sheet starts in the Tuesday column, and a small tree marks Christmas Day, Friday, December 25. Ten dates are left blank to fill in, among them 3, 12, 18 and 22. The next sheet asks six questions about the calendar, such as which day December 1 is, what the date of the first Monday is (December 7) and how many Sundays the month has (4). Because the dates are real, a child can check the answers on the family calendar too.

The 12 sheets

• Sheets 1 and 2: count stars and then gifts, six rows each, from 2 up to 10.
• Sheet 3: find every D and d in a grid of 48 letters mixed with b, p, o and q. There are 12 to find.
• Sheet 4: beginning sounds. Tree, star, gift, bell, candy and ornament, each with three letters to choose from.
• Sheets 5 and 6: what comes next in a pattern, and which group has more.
• Sheets 7 and 8: add pictures up to 5, and take away with the crossed out pictures still showing.
• Sheets 9 to 12: before and after, the calendar, calendar questions and the missing numbers from 1 to 31.

Why the letter D sheet uses b, p, o and q

Kindergartners mix up letters that share a round shape and a straight line. A D in a grid of unlike letters is easy to spot, but a d hidden among b, p and q makes the child look at which side the line is on. It is good practice for the b and d mix-ups that show up once they start reading words.

In your printer dialog set Scale to 100% or Actual size, not Fit to page. Fit to page shrinks the tracing letters and they stop matching the size a child's hand is learning.

Plain paper is fine for crayons and pencils. If your child uses felt pens, 100 gsm paper stops the ink bleeding to the next sheet.
